Americano tournaments are a dynamic and social format where players rotate partners and opponents throughout the event, making Americano ideal for fun, social club events.
Rotating partners
Americano—also known as Toss—is a flexible and easy-to-organize tournament format in which players rotate partners each round, keeping matches varied and social. It works well for both small and larger groups, and organizers can set the maximum number of players and choose between a friendly or competitive setup.
Fully automated
With ClubMatch, Americano events run fully automated and require no tournament leader on site. The app informs players when and where they play, adjusts matches for no-shows or injuries, and generates new rounds automatically—making it easy to scale and run reliable events with minimal effort.
Your first Americano event
We recommend starting simple, for example with a weekly Americano on three courts and 12 players. Allow at least two weeks to promote your first event, and make sure you have scheduled at least three upcoming events so players can sign up for the next before the first event finishes. Once everything runs smoothly, you can expand to more courts or separate events for different levels. Our support team is happy to help you with planning and promotion.
Tournament formats
ClubMatch supports multiple Americano formats, ranging from social to competitive, with either continuous play or formats that combine play with scheduled breaks.
Americano Basic
Americano Basic is a friendly Americano format played with four players per court and no breaks. Players rotate partners every match and play continuously, facing opponents of different levels throughout the event. ClubMatch assigns partners to avoid unbalanced matchups, ensuring that games remain enjoyable for everyone.
Americano Plus
Americano Plus is a friendly Americano format played with up to five players per court. Players rotate partners every match, and with five participants each player gets a short break every five games. The fifth player ensures that matches can continue even if a player is missing or injured.
Americano Toss
Americano Toss is a friendly and social Americano format played with up to eight players per court. Players rotate in and out, creating a casual rhythm that naturally combines playing with drinks and bites off the court. Each player is guaranteed to play at least half of the time, making Americano Toss ideal for social events where atmosphere and enjoyment matter just as much as the matches.
Americano 4
Americano 4 is a competitive Americano format played with four players per court. Courts are organized by level, and each round consists of three matches, covering all partner combinations. Player levels are updated based on the results. After the round is completed, the strongest players move up one court, while the lower-scoring players move down, and the same format repeats.
Americano 5
Americano 5 is a competitive Americano format played with five players per court. Courts are organized by level, and each round consists of five matches with rotating partners. Player levels are updated based on the results. The key advantage of Americano-5 is that each court has a spare player, preventing situations where play would otherwise continue with only three players due to no-shows or injuries.
